Armando Torrealba was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela where he began playing the viola at the age of six. In 2008, his family moved to Miramar, Florida to escape political persecution in Venezuela. He continued playing the viola and eventually added trombone as his secondary instrument at the age of eleven. He composed his first work at sixteen, a short suite for chamber orchestra. He was admitted to the Berklee Highschool Composition Intensive as well as the Eastern Music Festival as a violist. Since then, several of his works for full orchestra have been performed and he continues to compose for smaller chamber ensembles.
